THE BIG DOWNSIZING DECISION

04 Decemeber 2016

Over the past few years their lives have changed.
Their three children have grown up and are moving on with their lives and it has left Clark and Leanne reassessing whether they should stay in their current, spacious family home on one of Hawthorn's well-known streets, lined with budding Elm trees.
Or, should they move into a smaller place, that still offers them room to move and become, what has become known in real-estate vernacular as "the downsizers?"
"It's fair to say that Leanne has been keener to downsize than I have," Clark explains with a smile.
"I think my fears of moving have been around losing amenity, losing access to the things we enjoy about being in this area and so we wanted to stay in the area … when you say downsizing we don't want it to be a shoebox so we want it to be quite large but still has functionality around it," he says.
Clark and Leanne are now considering buying into Luminary – one of Hawthorn's newest developments in Church Street, not too far from where they currently live.
It has 22, generous-sized, two and three bedroom apartments complete with imported marble in the kitchens and bathrooms, De Dietrich appliances and high quality fixtures and fittings throughout.
Clark says he was a little apprehensive at first, not wanting to move to the type of New York style warehouse apartment which was much smaller than he and Leanne wanted.
